Week One of creative writing has involved starting work on writing poetry. This was focused on a personal level with writing a piece on ourselves titles 'I Come From' and another shorter entry about a family member or someone who inspires us. I chose to use some of my answers to the sheet that was given to us in class to help formulate the poem about myself. Then with my second piece I have chosen to talk about my younger sister and how I feel about her in my life.
I Come From...
I
come from what god hears and a sprinkle of fairy dust,
a
clan all pulled together by the number four,
zoo's,
safari's, trips to the beach.
I
come from the belief of Carpe Diem,
exploring
with a camera zoom, dog walks and smiley faces.
From
a long proud line of shouting at football and rugby teams alike,
still
being a child with a favourite band, the tiger that came to tea and napping.
I
come from a conservatory with an old broken rocking chair,
with
those bone crushing hugs that lasted a life time.
From
education, ghosts and Disney magic.
From
endless cups of tea, ginger biscuits and bad 80's cheese.
From
a blue denim dress, desire to save animals, fresh linen.
Days
of fun with mud rivers, baking and books which developed to nights
of
looking at the stars in blackouts and late night gossips.
I
come from being a daddy's girl,
I
come from home.
Squidge
The
feeling of warmth by my side
and
in my hand, the water bottle born six years younger.
The
baby who followed in footsteps always larger,
bolder
and stronger.
Now
looking in a mirror, identical,
forever
keeping in company with one's self.
