The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe.

This was a brilliant adaptation of the Gothic story, it had all the elements you wished out of the description of the house and it's surroundings. Even at the end of the story where we find a description of the weather we see it fit in perfectly with the need of the Gothic story. The actual story also fits in with the ideas and needs but the narrative voice is not very strong.
